In Memoriam: Bradley A. Buckles

It is with great sadness that FedChoice Federal Credit Union shares the passing of our Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Bradley A. Buckles.
Mr. Buckles was a long-term supporter of the credit union movement, having joined FedChoice as a member in 1974. He subsequently served the Credit Union as a dedicated volunteer either on the Supervisory Committee or on the Board of Directors for nearly 17 years. During his tenure, Mr. Buckles held various leadership roles, culminating in his most recent position as Vice Chairman.
Mr. Buckles received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wyoming and his Juris Doctor from Washburn University. He was licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia.
Professionally, Mr. Buckles served nearly 30 years with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). He was named Director in 1999, overseeing a staff of 5,000 and a $900 million budget, before retiring from federal service in 2004.
Following his time at the ATF, Mr. Buckles spent over 20 years with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), ultimately as Chief Content Protection Officer. He was also a Partner at The Buckles Group in Bethesda, Maryland, where he provided legal consulting on corporate compliance and ethics.
“Brad Buckles was one of the finest individuals I have ever known,” said Art Altman, Chairman of the FedChoice Board of Directors. “He had an incredible career in federal service with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, retiring as the agency Director. FedChoice has been most fortunate to have enjoyed his remarkable service of 15 years on our Board of Directors. Brad was a good person!”
In honor of his many years of dedicated service, the Credit Union is making a donation to the Buckles family’s charity of choice in memory of Bradley A. Buckles.
We are honored to have had Mr. Buckles as a member of our community and are grateful that he dedicated so many years of his life to serving FedChoice. His impact on our Credit Union and its members will be felt for years to come.
