It is with great sadness that FedChoice Federal Credit Union shares the passing of our former longtime Chairman of the Board of Directors, Marvin J. Dessler.

Mr. Dessler was a long-term supporter of the credit union movement, joining FedChoice in 1961, and a vibrant member of the Board of Directors, where he served the Credit Union as a volunteer for 51 years. During his tenure, Mr. Dessler held various roles on the Board of Directors, including his most notable position as Chairman of the Board. After stepping down from this role in 2018, he continued contributing his expertise and guidance as the Credit Union’s Chairman Emeritus.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Dessler remember his caring spirit, giving nature and commitment to serving all members of the Credit Union. Through his duties as a board volunteer, he brought his own philosophy of “not for profit, not for charity, but for service”  to life. Mr. Dessler achieved this by promoting financial education, offering reasonable prices and useful services, all with a smile on his face.

Mr. Dessler held the honorable position of Chief Counsel, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, U. S. Treasury Department when he retired In 1995.

We are honored to have had Mr. Dessler as a member of our community and are grateful that he dedicated so many years of his life to serving FedChoice. His impact on our Credit Union and its members will be felt for years to come.
